On Monday, Caretaker Minister of Culture, Mohammad Al-Murtada, named a 14-year-old student, Joey Pierre Haddad, as his assistant advisor with the goal of improving and consolidating the relationship of the young Lebanese generation with the Arabic language.
The boy and his father met with the Minister in his office where they discussed public and cultural matters.
The student will be given several tasks assigned by Judge Murtada, including taking care of cultural activities organized by schools and following up on them.
Joey is in Brevet class at the “Sacred Hearts” school in Ain Najm. The state-run NNA reported that “he enjoys a strong personality and social presence, and he recently won the first award in reciting Arabic poetry.”
This initiative is an attempt to encourage the young generation to become more fluent in Arabic as they prefer to speak in foreign languages such as English and French.
