Just like every year, ski and winter sports enthusiasts in Lebanon attentively wait for snowstorms. This year, the ‘Norma‘ and ‘Tracy’ storms have generously blessed our Lebanese mountains with the beautiful white and magical snow.
Social media buzzed with pictures, stories, and videos of beautiful wintery landscapes all across the country.
However, winter in Lebanon just means more fun. Winter sports and activities such as skiing and offroading are the main entertainment for this (very) cold season.
Skiing in Lebanon has been a popular sport ever since an engineering student returning from studying in Switzerland brought it back to Lebanon with him in the early twentieth century.
Lebanon is home to six developed ski resorts. Cedars Ski Resort is the oldest and received its first ski lift. Mzaar Ski Resort, Kfardebian, is Lebanon’s largest ski resort.
Lebanon’s ski resorts are accessible on a day trip with the nearest ski resorts less than an hour’s drive from the capital, Beirut. The sociable Lebanese ensure that the après-ski scene is as memorable as the skiing.
Snowboarding, sledging, snowmobiling, and ice-skating are also quite popular among Lebanese people.
Weekends on the snow is a great plan to make whether you’re a group of friends, family or even as a couple. Ski resorts in different areas such as Faraya, The Cedars, Zaarour, or Laklouk are the place to stay while you rest from all the fun in the sun.

- Don’t risk skiing if you find yourself not able to, it’s a dangerous sport after all!
