15-year-old Noura Fadi Hatoum was hiking with a group of friends when she fell into the Adonis River (Ibrahim River) and was swept away by the high level of water.
The maritime unit in the Lebanese Civil Defense rushed to the scene but has yet not been able to locate her according to Lebanon’s state-run news agency, NNA.
Her family along with the Civil Defense have been searching since 5 AM, her brother Adham informed The961. Anyone who has information can contact him at +961 71 952 804.
She is the second person after Hady Hokayem to disappear after being swept away by a river in Lebanon within the last month.
34-year-old Hady Hokayem was last seen going into the Jaouz River in the Batroun District on April 14th and has been missing since.
The Civil Defense search and rescue team searched for weeks but was not able to locate a single trace of him inside or outside the river.
Almost a month after his disappearance, volunteers are still helping Hokayem’s family and friends search for him.
Editor’s note – 10/05/2021: An initial version of this article had Noura’s age as 17 based on the initial reports by the Civil Defense. This has been corrected to 15 after receiving further information from her family.
