2017 is Lebanon’s second best year for tourism

2017 has been great for the Lebanese tourism. Two million passengers traveled through Beirut – Rafic Hariri International Airport. Last month, Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced that the airport would be expanded to accommodate

. Currently, the airport can accommodate 6 million people. However, expansion is necessary since the number of passengers is increasing year after year. According to

, the Lebanese Minister of Tourism Avedis Guidanian said that “2017 had been Lebanon’s second best year for tourism since 1951.”He mentioned that the occupancy rate at the hotels in Lebanon during the holidays is 65%. The Minister noted that the numbers are healthy given the fact that Lebanon has recently faced a political crisis, which is the resignation of Hariri in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
