A little girl suffering multiple fractures was found near a dumpster in the Mount Lebanon governorate on Wednesday.

The girl, 5, was found by Oqaybeh municipal police near a dumpster along the Oqaybeh highway that leads to Beirut. She had fractures in her legs and pelvis.

Shortly after the girl was found, the head of the Oqaybeh Municipality arrived at the scene alongside civil defense teams and municipal police units.

Calls were made to get the child to safety after civil defense personnel administered first aid.

She was later handed over to the Ghazir police station to take the necessary legal measures. The circumstances of the incident are unknown, as of the time of writing.

This comes a few days after a newborn baby was found alive in a trash bag on a street in Beirut.

The unprecedented economic crisis that is currently paralyzing Lebanon has paved the way to social unrest and increased crime.

The social crisis has strained the country’s law enforcement agencies and the Lebanese Army, whose personnel are suffering themselves.

According to the Lebanese caretaker interior minister, the Internal Security Forces has been recording increasing desertions among its ranks.
