Lebanon Will Suspend Issuing 5-Year Passports For Adults

The Lebanese General Security Directorate (LGSD) announced on Friday that it will suspend issuing 5-year biometric passports for adults, until further notice.

The Directorate claimed it’s due to technical difficulties.

The LGSD also announced that adult applications for both obtaining and renewing adult passports for 10 years will proceed as normal.

However, applying for a 5-year passport is exclusive to those under 18.

In September, a security official said that they were receiving 7,000-8,000 passport applications a day, 5,000 of which they can’t complete.
