5000 Lebanese Soldiers Reportedly Took Unauthorized Leave From Service

The Arab Weekly

Ever since the Lebanese economic crisis kicked in, public sectors have been hit very hard by the continuous collapse of the Lebanese economy.

One of the most severely affected sectors, however, has been the Lebanese Army.

According to Lebanon Debate, around 5000 army men have taken unauthorized time off their service.

Most of these are lower-ranked soldiers whose salary can barely cover their transportation fees.

However, Lebanon Debate claims that most of the soldiers that fled from their duty have asked to be reinstated into the army.

This is due to the medical insurance the Lebanese Army offers, which soldiers are unable to acquire anywhere else.

Lebanon Debate added that despite this large number of fleeing soldiers, the Lebanese Army has not struggled to keep performing its duties in due course.
