Lebanese security forces have arrested a group of people involved in the sale of a baby, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Tuesday.
The Byblos Judicial Detachment of the Judicial Police Unit had recently received information that several people had sold a child, the ISF said in a statement.
Consequently, on 8 and 9 September, after conducting investigations, members of the said detachment managed to identify and detain each of the following individuals in relation to the case:
- “A.S.” (28, Syrian)
- “K.S.” (47, Syrian)
- “Y.B.” (51, Lebanese)
- “A.A.” (49, Lebanese)
- “Y.S.” (64, Lebanese)
- “L.S.” (66, Lebanese)
According to the ISF, the first detainee on the list sold his son, a 2-year-old, to the second and third detainees, with help from the remaining detainees.
The baby has been handed over to an organization that provides care to children, the ISF said.
As for the detainees, they have been referred to the competent authority, pending the required legal action against them, based on a judicial notice.
