68 People Charged With Murder & Sedition After Tayyouneh Clashes

Judge Fadi Akiki, State Commissioner to the Lebanese Military court charged 68 people with murder and sedition after the Tayyouneh clashes of October 14th, and 18 of them have been detained, National News Agency (NNA) reported on Monday.

The Tayyouneh clashes erupted during Hezbollah and Amal protests against judge Tarek Bitar who is in charge of the Beirut Blast investigation.

This armed confrontation left 6 dead and more than 60 injured. Amal Movement and Hezbollah accused the Lebanese Forces (LF) to be responsible for the firefight.

The 68 people charged include LF members, an LF official, 2 members of Amal, a Lebanese Army soldier, and residents of Ain El-Remmaneh.

The suspects have also been charged with “incitement, possession of unlicensed firearms, and sabotage of public and private properties.”
