From November 9, 2017 until February 28, 2018, Lebanese drivers can pay their unpaid mecanique fees and late fees with a discount of 90 percent. So, drivers who have debts for several years can pay only 10% of the fee. In fact, the Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nohad Machnouk announced on January 6, 2017, that the deadline for car owners to pay their annual mecanique fees is on February 27. Car owners rushed to the vehicle inspection centers to make their payments which led to a huge traffic jam at the centers. Authorities are asking people to respect the business hours and not reserve their spots by arriving earlier at the inspection facilities to reduce chaos and ease the process.
