Consultations To Designate New Lebanese PM Will Take Place Next Week

The Lebanese presidency has set a date for the binding parliamentary consultations to name Lebanon’s next prime minister.

President Michel Aoun announced on Monday afternoon that the consultations will take place at the presidential palace in Baabda on Monday, July 26th.

The consultations will start at 10:30 AM with a meeting between President Aoun and former PM Najib Mikati, to be followed by individual meetings between the President and each of former PM Saad Hariri, former PM Tammam Salam, and Deputy Parliament Speaker MP Elie Ferzli.

President Aoun will then meet with parliamentary blocs and independent MPs, as follows:

  • Future Bloc at 11:30 AM
  • Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc at 11:45 AM
  • National Bloc at 12 PM
  • Progressive Socialist Party Bloc at 12:15 PM
  • Independent Center Bloc at 12:30 PM
  • Social Nationalist Bloc at 12:45 PM
  • Consultative Meeting Bloc at 1 PM
  • Strong Republic Bloc at 3 PM
  • MP Eddie Demirjian at 3:20 PM
  • MP Nohad Machnouk at 3:25 PM
  • MP Osama Saad at 3:30 PM
  • MP Fouad Makhzoumi at 3:35 PM
  • MP Michel Daher at 3:40 PM
  • MP Chamel Roukoz at 3:45 PM
  • MP Jamil Al-Sayyed at 3:50 PM
  • MP Jihad Al-Samad at 3:55 PM
  • MP Jean Talouzian at 4 PM
  • Strong Lebanon Bloc at 4:35 PM
  • Armenian MPs Bloc
  • Mount Lebanon Guarantee Bloc

The decision to hold binding parliamentary consultations comes four days after the resignation of Lebanon’s former PM-designate Saad Hariri.
