AstraZeneca walk-in vaccination will be available again in Lebanon starting this week, the Lebanese Vaccine Executive Committee announced in a tweet on Wednesday.

According to the committee, AstraZeneca walk-in vaccination will be available for people aged between 30 and 49 years (born between 1991 and 1972) starting Thursday, July 22nd.

People in the targeted age groups can get vaccinated by visiting any vaccination center accredited by the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The restoration of the AstraZeneca walk-in vaccination service comes after Lebanon received a new shipment of the said vaccine, the committee said.

The shipment, which contains 129,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, arrived on Monday through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) global initiative.

Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan said after the shipment arrived that it would reinforce the Lebanese authorities’ efforts to vaccinate the largest possible number of people, reduce infections, and control the outbreak.

According to the latest data, Lebanon has administered a total of 1,741,074 COVID-19 vaccines so far.

Of those, 668,513, which constitute nearly 9.8% of the population, have been fully vaccinated with both doses.

Although Lebanon has been trying to increase immunity against COVID-19, its vaccination campaign took a hit when electricity and internet cuts forced vaccine marathons to be canceled around two weeks ago.
