Since a very young age, the talented and well-known Lebanese Chef Maroun Chedid has grown a passion for cooking, reflecting on the Mediterranean landscape through food.
Maroun grew up in Saghbine, in the Bekaa valley, a village known for its fertility as seen with its orchards, vineyards, and farms.
During his young years, he used to spend his days between animals and fruits, which exposed him to the enchanting culinary world.
Surrounded by nature, the Lebanese chef was inspired by the Mediterranean region, with its orange blossom flowers, green valleys, olive trees, and farm life, which provided him with great respect for natural resources.
All those natural “treasures”, as he described them, have played a vital role in his career as a renowned chef.
In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious title of “Chef de L’Année a L’International” by the Toques Blanches du Monde, making him the first Lebanese chef to be recognized for the role he plays in spreading Lebanese and Mediterranean gastronomy in the world.
Recognizing the authenticity of Lebanese food has made him a sought-after gourmet chef, who uses his culinary expertise and charisma on national television, with loyal fans watching him around the world.
Chef Maroun has premiered in many local and regional shows, including MTV Lebanon’s Bil Hawa Sawa, where he cooked meals 50 meters off the ground as part of the “Dinner in the Sky” concept, and on “Well Done & Alive” where he showcased traditional recipes using innovative techniques.
All those opportunities gave him the chance to be discovered regionally. In 2016, he starred in the Arabic adaptation of the world-famous reality culinary competition, Top Chef Middle East, which is now airing in its 6th season.
His culinary vision did not end there. He also founded a catering business, as well as the Maroun Chedid Cooking Academy, welcoming all foodies, amateurs, chefs, and professionals to showcase their love for food.
He also founded Ritage, a fine dining restaurant in Beirut and Riyadh offering gourmet items inspired by the Mediterranean flavor.
All these achievements and accomplishments make Maroun Chedid a renowned chef, who is showcasing the culinary beauty of Lebanon abroad.
