People haven’t been doing much lately, so every job well done, no matter how simple or basic, is now a major accomplishment. The Lebanese, in their majority, normally lead big and festive lives; they are hard workers and they love gathering and having fun with family and friends.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, however, they were forced to be at home almost 24/7, struggling to do the simplest of tasks. Here are 10 major “accomplishments” for every Lebanese right now:
#1 Showering
It is easy to become super lazy during a time like this. You are not seeing anyone, no one is seeing you, and you are barely outside anymore, so why bother? But hey, you can do your daily crying routine in the shower, that way nobody can see your tears and you get to practice necessary self-care; it’s a win-win situation.
#2 Getting out of the PJs
Every once in a while, people will feel like putting on some real clothes and shoes for a change. They will get dressed up for a nice evening on the balcony, and there’s nothing wrong with that. After all, we all need to make sure that our clothes still fit us.
#3 Eating a healthy meal
Enough with the popcorn, cake, candy, chips, and pizzas! These things are great but after so many weeks in quarantine, we are desperate for some greens. Reward yourself every time you make a bowl of salad because it is a big deal!
#4 Moving
Getting up and actually doing some work out is a big step, it always has been. Working out from home has never been easier now that almost all gyms and instructors in the country are providing free online classes. So give that sofa a break, will you?!
#5 Distracting the kids for more than 5 minutes
All parents should have a closet full of trophies by now. Keeping kids entertained and distracted at home for this long is a talent. You all deserve an A+ for creativity, patience, and endurance.
#6 Socializing
Every few days, a familiar face or name will pop into your head. Well, this is the friend you forgot you had. Staying in touch solely through online and video chatting is not as easy as it seems to be, especially now that everyone has got a lot on their minds. So all communications matter, for you as well as your loved ones.
#7 Not having an emotional break-down every few seconds
Got through the whole 24 hours without shedding one tear? Impressive! Here’s your award. Just kidding, no one’s gonna give you an award but hey, you did it! Anyone who is self-isolating will acknowledge how big of an accomplishment this is.
#8 Getting any work done
Working/studying from home seem very optional when it really isn’t. Plus, there are all sorts of distractions at home, like kids and TVs and BEDS! So getting through all of these internal and external obstacles and getting any work done at all is an accomplishment that deserves a round of applause!
#9 Actually losing a few pounds
Losing weight is hard; super hard, even, when your refrigerator is just there staring at you all day long (or you at it). So if you actually managed to lose some pounds while self-quarantined, congratulations, you are now a superhuman. Please share your secret!
#10 Reuniting with the sun
Does anyone else make a little sun dance every time they get to go outside? Make sure to absorb those vitamins while you’re out because it’s gonna be a while before your run out of toilet paper again.
If you’ve accomplished anything that is on this list today, I congratulate you. Keep working hard, and stay sane!
