After Saying They Will Release William Noun, Authorities Decided To Keep Him Detained

The judicial police completed the investigation with William Noun and informed Judge Zaher Hamadeh of their conclusion.

Judge Hamadeh initially signed off on his detention.

Judge Hamadeh initially granted his release conditionally with the expectation that they might recall him. However, the Judge decided to keep him detained and also summon the brother of another victim, Peter Bou Saab.

Peter Bou Saab is Joe Bou Saab’s brother, who was killed in the Beirut Port blast responding as a firefighter.

Yesterday, William Noun‘s family house was raided by authorities and he’s been detained ever since.

Protestors closed roads and highways across Lebanon in support. MPs have publicly called this out, with several making their way into the State Security facility to be with William Noun.

Protests have been escalating the last few days over frustrations of stalemate and attempted obstruction of the investigation.

William Noun‘s brother, Joe Noun, was also killed in the explosion. He was a firefighter and one of the first to respond during the Beirut Port blast.
