Saturday at midnight, two planes belonging to Middle East Airlines were struck by stray bullets fired to celebrate the New Year.
Both planes, T7-ME9 and T7-ME2, were damaged and had to be towed to the hangar for repairs.
Someone at the Beirut airport also had a stray bullet land into his phone.
This is not the first time that a Middle East Airlines plane has been hit by a stray bullet – just a few weeks ago, another plane coming from Jordan to Beirut was struck while landing at the airport, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
