A truck carrying 20 tons of ammonium nitrate was caught in Bednayel plain in Bekaa, Lebanon.
Ammonium Nitrate is a highly explosive material. The August 4th Beirut Port explosion was the result of the ignition of tons of this material that were stored in a warehouse.
The Minister of Interior inspected the truck and assured that the material will be stored in a safe place. He added that the area where the truck was found will be swept to make sure it’s safe.
Ammonium Nitrate is widely used as a high-nitrogen fertilizer for crops, however, due to its explosiveness it is also used to make weapons and it remains unregulated to this day.
