Lebanon’s Annahar newspaper along with Impact BBDO were the top winners at Cannes Lions, in the Print & Publishing category for the “Elections Edition.”
It is the second time that the two partners won a major prize.
In 2019, the two also won at Cannes Lions’ Grand Prix for Print and Publishing for its “Blank Edition” which was published to reflect on the critical conditions that Lebanon was panning through.
However, the 2022 award came from an unprinted electoral release, indicating the creativity behind the idea.
As per the newspaper, it also won a silver award in the “Printing” category, another silver award in the Outdoor category, and a bronze award.
The electoral release was reflective of the newspaper’s decision not to publish a print, but instead donate the ink prices to Lebanon’s Interior Ministry to hold the elections on time without excuses.
Annahar’s campaign also emphasized the determination to preserve Lebanon and the role of journalism in highlighting public opinion, rights, and issues.
Cannes Lions is the most prominent international award honor of advertising creativity.
