Understanding that people can no longer afford to go back into total lockdown, the Ministry of Health found a creative way to adapt to the coronavirus in normal life.

On Thursday, the ministry announced the launching of its very own coronavirus contact tracing mobile app called “Ma3an.”

The Ma3an app will be able to notify you if you have been exposed to the coronavirus. Everyone is encouraged to download the app even if they aren’t showing any symptoms.

Here’s briefly how it works: When you download the app, your phone/device will ping all devices nearby that also have the app.

If your or anyone’s device pinged tested positive for the virus, a notification will automatically be sent to everyone who is in the vicinity.

Ever since the airport reopened in July, there have been large numbers of coronavirus cases recorded daily.

With that surge of new infections, Lebanon is threatened with a second wave of coronavirus. It is vital to have such an application to better the testing and tracing process.

That being said, the app will be publically available on Google Play, Apple Store, and Huawei AppGallery starting next week.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry has been praised for its rapid response in dealing with and containing the outbreak.
