Security forces have arrested an individual who filed a false burglary claim to prevent her son from spending a sum of money.

On the night of July 23 – 24, “H.J.” (56, Palestinian) filed a report at a police station in Sidon against an unknown individual for breaking into her house and stealing 65 million Lebanese pounds from it, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) said in a statement on Thursday.

She claimed that the alleged burglar had entered her home, in the Sirob area, from the back door.

After launching an investigation, the detachment leading the case discovered that the submitted claim was false.

H.J. confessed that she had deposited the aforementioned sum with her neighbor (46-year-old Palestinian national “M.K.”).

The two had agreed that M.K. would enter H.J.’s home and disarrange its contents to give the illusion that it had been burglarized while the latter was at a wedding with her son. H.J. would then file a complaint, according to their plan.

The purpose of the plan, according to H.J.’s confessions, was to prevent her son from using the money and spending it to purchase a car.

After the money was seized, the plaintiff was detained along with her neighbor before being released on bail later on.
