Historically, the first Arab book fair in the Arab East began to meet with the audience in the West Hall of the American University in Beirut, on Monday, April 23, 1956, and lasted three days.

The results achieved by this first exhibitor motivated the members of the club to move forward in the establishment of this exhibition annually and permanently, to become one of the pillars and milestones of literature and culture in the region.

Accordingly, a specialized committee was formed from the members of the Arab Cultural Club to establish it in order to familiarize visitors to Arab publications in the various branches of knowledge.

The Beirut International Arab Book Fair is the most prestigious opponent of Arabic books; being the first book fair in the Arab region. It aims at promoting culture and raising public cultural affairs in Beirut, Lebanon, and the Arab world.
