The QS World University Ranking has published its annual 2022 subject ranking and the American University of Beirut (AUB) is still moving up in ranks, regardless of the increasing external hardships.
The international publication assesses over 1500 higher education institutions across 51 disciplines that are grouped into 5 broad fields.
Universities are ranked based on their academic and employer reputations, as well as other factors such as citations per paper. In other words, universities are objectively ranked based on surveys, diversity, and performance.
Despite the ongoing economic crisis, AUB has ranked up in 4 out of 5 broad categories and maintained its local position as the highest-ranking Lebanese university and 4th position regionally.
The university ranked among the top 200 worldwide for social sciences and management and arts and humanities, and the top 300 for engineering, technology, life sciences, and medicine.
Regarding the subjects, 10 have advanced in their ranking. The university development studies program has ranked 40th internationally in the broad subject of social sciences.
Other subjects such as “Civil and Structural Engineering” as well as “Politics and International Studies” have reached the 101-150 ranking.
This continuous progress is part of AUB’s initiatives: BOLDLY AUB and VITAL 2030, which serve to invest in the institution’s future and legacy.
The ongoing improvement and the campaigns serve as a message of hope to portray the resilience of Lebanon and its institutions even when facing social and economical challenges.
