Lebanese-Australian Created The ‘Knafa Donut’ & It’s Selling Out!

L.A. Donuts

Established in 2018, L.A. Donuts in Beverly Hills, Sydney is often sold out. Its donuts are so popular it can’t keep up with the crowds.

The dessert spot prides itself on serving up traditional American donuts. However, the owner couldn’t resist adding a touch from her motherland.

The store’s owner Frida Deguise is an Australian-born Lebanese proclaimed “donut mogul, chef, fashion icon, and comedian.”

The mother of four is a brilliant entrepreneur and has comedy tours as “Australia’s first Muslim female comedian.”

Paying tribute to her origins, Frida brought the flavors of Lebanon to her shop, incorporating them into some of her best selling donuts. The most notable one is the Knafa Donut, a Western twist on an Eastern delicacy.

She also masterminded a donut called “Znood” inspired by the famous Lebanese dessert Znoud El Sit. It is filled with thick cream, topped with rosewater icing, and generously sprinkled with crushed pistachios.
