The renowned Swedish DJ Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, passed away at 28 in Muscat, Oman on Friday afternoon. He was also a remixer and a record producer. His family confirmed that he had died from suicide and said in a statement that “he really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.” The Swedish DJ has a huge fan base in Lebanon. He performed in Beirut on July 23, 2016. Here’s a small video that captures the concert’s best moments! Avicii is the pioneer of electronic dance music and influenced many world-famous musicians and DJs. His house track “Levels” hit number 1 in Sweden and on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. It also earned him a Grammy nomination. Avicii collaborated with David Guetta on”Sunshine” which earned him another nomination. Avicii eventually retired from touring in 2016 due to health issues. He suffered from acute pancreatitis which is in part due to excessive drinking.
