After Lebanon won against China 72-69 and qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 semi-finals, PM Najib Mikati sent the Lebanese basketball team a letter of congratulations.
Mikati’s message, however, did not sit well with Lebanese basketball star Wael Arakji.
Arakji was deemed the star in Lebanon’s match against China, scoring the most points in the game with 32.
He responded to Mikati’s message on Facebook by saying the team “does not need his congratulations” and that they are trying to “clean the shit he and his fellow politicians put us in.”
This strongly worded message by Arakji reflects the views of most Lebanese people towards the politicians in power, for having been constantly deprived of their rights for over 30 years.
