Held between April 25 and April 30 at AMC Universal City Walk, the documentary was the first winner of the “2022 HAFF Best Documentary Award”.

“Beirut after 40,” tells the real story of Merchak after the catastrophic Beirut Blast erupted at 6:07 p.m., as he was just a few meters away from the explosion site.

In his documentary, the Lebanese director describes his personal experience while featuring real footage taken directly after the explosion.

Anthony Merchak has won numerous awards for this documentary, including the Gold Awards for Short Documentary at the Hollywood Gold Awards and the Best International Short Documentary at the Golden State film festival 2022.

The Hollywood Arab Film Festival Foundation inaugurated the first edition of the Hollywood Arab Film Festival (HAFF) as part of the celebration of the Arab Heritage Month.

The HAFF’s main aim is to recognize the Middle East’s film industry and to create a platform for a Western audience to meet and discover regional filmmakers.

During the first round of the HAFF, films from many countries were screened, including 48 short films and 7 feature films out of 474 films from the region.
