After more than a year and two months of pain and suffering, Abbas Al-Mazloum has just passed away, succumbing to his injuries caused by the Beirut port explosion, and leaving five kids behind.

On the doom day of August 4th, 2020 when the horrific blast occurred, Al-Mazloum was at a Mar Mikhael restaurant, where he worked as a chef.

The explosion’s brutal force knocked him down, severely injured his head, and broke four vertebrae in his back, paralyzing him. His head injury required 45 stitches.

Al-Mazloum was suffering since then. When asked in an interview with Annahar if he still has hope, Al-Mazloum responded, “No. I only want them to remove the pain.”

“God will punish them [the officials],” Al-Mazloum added. “Only God is with us.”

The name of Abbas Al-Mazloum is now added to the long list of the Beirut Blast victims.

Until this day, the physically injured and mentally traumatized people are still suffering from the aftermath of the Beirut explosion, which perpetrators haven’t yet been brought to justice.

Until this day, politicians are resisting the investigation, refusing summons for questioning, protesting against the investigating Judge, and politicizing it to avoid any blame of involvement in the horrific mass murder.
