On August 4, 2020, Arlette Jean Kattah was one of the thousands of victims who were injured in the Beirut Port Explosion.
On August 4, 2021, she passed away.
On the fateful day of the deadly explosion, Kattah was in her pharmacy. She was severely injured and entered a coma that ended with her passing on the first anniversary of the deadly blast. Her funeral was held on Thursday afternoon.
With that, the explosion claimed a new victim a year after it ravaged Beirut and traumatized countless people, many of whom continue to suffer today.
The day Kattah passed away was the day people across Lebanon were honoring the memory of the hundreds of people who lost their lives during that tragic incident.
On Wednesday, Lebanese in Lebanon and around the world held protests and vigils to immortalize the memories of these victims and to assert their unabating pursuit of justice and accountability.
