It is over 2 months since the blast, but today, it has claimed yet another innocent victim, sending the city back into mourning.
After fighting for 83 days, Dima Abdel Samad Kaiss has succumbed to severe head injuries that had left her in a coma.
On August 4th, she was visiting her father in the Saint George Hospital (Al-Roum Hospital) in Beirut when the explosion struck the hospital, causing her severe head injury.
According to various reports, she was standing on the balcony at the moment of the blast. She had been in a coma ever since.
Her relative, Lebanon’s caretaker Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad, grieved her cousin and friend on Twitter, saying:
“Are you a martyr or a victim of corruption, neglect, and negligence? In both cases, the outcome is the same: the absence of your smile that never left your face, and the absence of your distinguished presence and your sincere love.”
Kaiss was a loving mother, wife, and daughter. Her passing has taken the entire country back to that devastating day of loss and trauma.
It serves as a reminder that Lebanon is deeply entrenched in governmental corruption that will never be forgotten nor forgiven. They will be held accountable for justice for all the lives that have been lost.
