The American mediator in the maritime borders demarcation file, Amos Hochstein, is currently in Greece.

He is expected to visit Lebanon in late August to continue the negotiations with the Lebanese officials who are awaiting the Israeli response to the file.

The sources added that the “message” will likely precede Hochstein’s visit to Lebanon as there is a high possibility of reaching an agreement soon.

Washington and Tel Aviv are reportedly taking Hezbollah‘s threats “very seriously” while there Israel plans to distance “the Hezbollah issue” from their foreign policy file concerning Lebanon.

This vision of gradually removing Hezbollah from the file of demarcation comes within a more comprehensive U.S. plan for the region and efforts to neutralize Iranian influence in Lebanon and elsewhere.
