Beirut Governor Ordered Generator Owners To Install Cyclones To Protect The Environment

BBC

Judge Marwan Abboud, Governor of Beirut, issued an announcement to generator owners within the Beirut district to install a cyclone separator.

The Municipality of Beirut explained that this is out of environmental concerns and to ensure public safety.

These generators emit harmful gases and particles that are detrimental to the environment and to people’s health.

This new regulation is to abide by the Environment Ministry’s circular 1026/B dated 11/4/2022 in regards to the laws and regulations of operating and investing in generators.

Generator owners will have to install a working system to process pollutants and keep up its maintenance. They will also have to show the maintenance contract to the pertinent authorities.

The duration given to make these necessary changes is two months ahead of the announcement, and those who do not abide will be legally prosecuted, and their subscription businesses shut down.
