“You did not need anyone to obstruct you,” Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said in a statement on Thursday, responding to remarks by former president Michel Aoun.
“Seeing as you promised us hell and fully fulfilled your promise. Seventy-four laws were issued without being implemented… topped by the electricity law. You deprived us of seeing the stars at night and you made us see them at noon!” Berri went on to say, using a Lebanese slang expression denoting that someone has caused great harm to others.
In an interview aired overnight on OTV, Aoun had claimed that Berri was one of the main “obstructors” during his presidential term, stating, “All that I know is that Speaker Berri was against my election as president and he obstructed 18 files that I was working on.”
