U.S. President Joe Biden‘s administration has appointed a Lebanese-American to be a Legislative Officer in the Department of Labor.
Ahmad Ramadan, who formerly served as a staff member for U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell of Michigan’s 12th District, was appointed to serve in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Congresswoman Dingell announced and commended Ramadan’s appointment in a statement on Monday.
“Ahmad brought more than a powerful voice to our office, he brought a compassionate, deep understanding of his community and the constituents he served,” she said.
“… Selfishly, I am sad to lose such a trusted advisor, but I am excited to see what he can accomplish as a member of the Biden Administration and a public servant for our nation,” she concluded.
Ramadan worked for 2 years as Dingell’s Constituent Services Representative and Grant Manager.
Following his appointment, he tweeted: “Honored to join @POTUS Admin in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at @USDOL.”
“I have tremendous gratitude to both @RepDebDingell & every staff I worked with. Your guidance, friendship, & empathy means more than I can ever express and I’m forever grateful!” he added.
He also expressed his excitement, on Facebook, for the new role in which he thanked his family and friends for their support.
“Public service is an honor and I am looking forward to the work ahead,” Ramadan wrote.
In January, the Biden Administration appointed Dr. Bechara Choucair to be the United States’ COVID-19 vaccine coordinator.
