Two bodyguards for the house of Samy Gemayel, leader of the Kataeb party, have tested positive for the Coronavirus. One of them, who is an ISF member, reportedly contracted the virus from his sister who is a nurse at the Notre Dame des Secours hospital in Jbeil. This bodyguard then infected his colleague.
“They are both being quarantined at the Rafik Hariri University Hospital,” the Kataeb party said in a statement.
They stated that everyone else on the security team had tested negative for the Coronavirus saying, “Consequently, all the necessary measures to prevent infections among the security detail were taken.”
The party also reported that “Gemayel and all his family members are in good health and he is staying home where he is working in line with the requirements of the current situation.”
Samy Gemayel had earlier in the day contacted Health Minister Hasan Hamad to discuss a plan to reimburse the Daher El-Bachek Government Hospital so that it can treat those who get infected in Metn. He is also planning to collaborate with MTV’s donation box in order to secure medical supplies.
