Breaking: Brother Of Beirut Blast Victim, William Noun, Detained & Family House Raided

William Noun has been detained since 12 pm and authorities have been searching his family’s house for the last few hours.

Initially detained at the State Security in Furn el Chebek, he has now been relocated to Ramlet el Bayda.

This comes as protests by the families of the Beirut Port blast victims have been escalating the last few days over frustrations of stalemate and attempted obstruction of Judge Tarek Bitar‘s investigation into the blast.

The arrest and raid are reportedly due to alleged statements made by William Noun that the Justice Palace would explode if they don’t get justice.

Crowds are currently forming outside the State Security in Ramlet el Bayda in protest of the detention and raid.

William Noun is currently in the presence of his lawyer and MP Melhem Khalaf. His Lawyer told MTV that the investigation hasn’t begun yet and they’re demanding his immediate release.

William Noun‘s brother, Joe Noun, was a firefighter and was killed in the Beirut Port explosion while responding to the initial call.

Protests are emerging in Byblos to block the main highway over his arrest and clashes erupted between State Security and protestors in Ramlet el Bayda.
