A massive explosion rocked Beirut on Tuesday evening.
As of the time of writing, the cause and exact location of the explosion has yet to be confirmed by official sources.
While some preliminary reports claimed that it targeted former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s residence, other sources maintain that it took place at the Port of Beirut.
Sources told LBCI that the explosion was caused by a fireworks stash at the Port. Several videos have surfaced showing the instant of the explosion in the capital.
“There was a loud rumble in the ground, we thought it was an earthquake. Suddenly the windows burst open. Everyone was out on the balconies,” a Beirut resident told The961.
The Lebanese Red Cross is currently asking people to clear the road for ambulances to pass through to the explosion site.
