The Government of Canada has escalated its travel advisory for Lebanon, urging its citizens to “avoid all travel” to the country.
This update comes as a result of worsening security conditions, civil unrest, an elevated risk of terrorist activities, and the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Hamas – along with limited skirmishes at the Lebanon-Israel border.
The advisory warns that the situation could further deteriorate without notice.
The Canadian government also cautioned that its ability to offer consular services, including the evacuation of its citizens, could be restricted in the event of an intensified armed conflict.
Canadians currently in Lebanon are advised to consider leaving the country through commercial means if it is safe to do so.
