Caretaker PM Najib Mikati will not convene the caretaker cabinet as President Michel Aoun’s term ended unless there is a major emergency.
“Mikati won’t call for cabinet sessions and this is what he has told ministers Walid Fayyad and Walid Nassar,” a prominent ministerial source told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.
“Mikati is insisting that he will not convene cabinet unless there a situation of utmost necessity that requires the cabinet to convene to take a stance on a major issue related to the country’s national security or a grand and unexpected event,” the source added.
