Former Nissan chairman, Carlos Ghosn, launched a lawsuit against Nissan, seeking $1 billion in damages.
This legal battle comes after Ghosn’s arrest in November 2018 in Japan on charges of financial misconduct, which he vehemently denies, claiming to be a victim of a corporate conspiracy.
Following his escape, Ghosn found refuge in Lebanon and is determined to confront Nissan head-on.
According to Reuters, the lawsuit accuses Nissan, along with 12 individuals and two other firms, of defamation, slander, libel, and the fabrication of material evidence.
In an interview with Reuters on June 14, Ghosn stated his claim for $588 million in lost remuneration and an additional $500 million in moral damages.
He expressed his unwavering commitment to fight until the end, emphasizing the importance of unveiling the truth.
A judicial source said the court session is expected to begin on September 18th.
Nissan has chosen to remain silent and refrain from commenting on the matter.
