As part of her upcoming Courage World Tour, international superstar Céline Dion was scheduled to perform in Lebanon in the summer of this year, 2020.

However, her management announced on Friday that, unfortunately, the Beirut concert has been canceled.

Back in September, Byblos International Festival (BIF) announced that the world-famous singer would be performing in the country for the first time ever on July 31st, 2020, at Beirut Waterfront.

The announcement was met with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement by Céline Dion’s fanbase in Lebanon.

The official cancellation announcement, made on BIF’s social media, is the result of “the current situation in Lebanon.”

As is evident from the social media comments, most Lebanese fans were deeply disappointed by the decision, but many were also understanding of the reasons behind it.

Indeed, the “current situation” in Lebanon is not very attractive for performers and organizers of entertainment shows.

The country has been witnessing protests and sit-ins for more than 2 months, people are having a hard time even withdrawing their own money from their bank accounts, and no new government has been formed yet to fill the vacancy.

Dion’s upcoming world tour “Courage” is the 14th concert tour. It is taking place in support of her studio album of the same name, released on 15 November 2019. Notably, this is Dion’s first world tour in over 10 years.

The tour has already begun in Canada and will include many countries in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The cancellation of Dion’s appearance in Beirut is not the first update made on the upcoming show.

On December 4th, 2019, Byblos International Festival, the organizer of the now-canceled event, moved the “tickets on sale” date to January 15th, 2020, for reasons that were not specified.

With 2020 still taking off, we can only hope that this new year brings with it what’s best for Lebanon and its people.

Hopefully, the “current situations” of the coming years will be less disorderly, more flourishing, and more inviting for entertainers and talents from around the world.
