When Love is Blind Habibi aired, it introduced a diverse cast from across the Middle East, among them was the Lebanese charmer Chafic Yactine.
From day one Chafic captivated the audience with his humor, wit, and outgoing personality – needless to say he became a fan favorite immediately.
A successful entrepreneur with a passion for life, Chafic brought an authentic experience to the pods, one that is true to him and reflects his vibrant character.
In this interview, we explore his experience on the show as well as the print this experience has left on him afterwards. From being in the pods to his thoughts on love, relationships, and representation, Chafic shares it all with his signature charm and wit.
Here’s what he told us.
Q: You built a strong connection with a lot of women in the pods. What ultimately led you to choose Dounia?
A: Choosing Dounia came down to the unique connection we shared and how comfortable we felt being open with each other. While I connected with others, Dounia had this natural way of understanding me on a deeper level.
She challenged me and brought out the best version of myself, which was something I felt I couldn’t ignore. Our conversations always felt meaningful and authentic, and as much as I valued my other connections, the bond with her was just stronger, and I felt it would last outside of the pods.
Q: How has being in the pods and later with Dounia affected your outlook on love and commitment?
A: Being in the pods and then with Dounia has shifted my entire perspective on love and commitment. In the pods, without the distractions of looks or surface-level things, I learned to really focus on what mattered—emotional connection, shared values, and communication.
Connecting deeply with someone based solely on who they are at their core showed me that love can be so much more than attraction; it’s about understanding, respect, and truly listening.
Being with Dounia has only deepened that understanding. She challenges me to be a better person, and together, we’ve navigated both highs and lows. This experience has taught me that commitment isn’t about perfection or fairy tales – it’s about choosing each other every day, even through the tough times. It’s made me realize that real love is about partnership, growth, and building something meaningful together.
Q: If given a second chance, would you approach relationships on Love is Blind: Habibi differently?
A: If I were given a second chance, I think I’d approach relationships on Love is Blind: Habibi with even more openness and vulnerability. The first time around, it’s easy to hold back or protect yourself emotionally, especially when you’re in such a unique environment.
But I’ve learned that being all-in, truly letting down your guard, and embracing the unknown is what creates the strongest connections.
I’d also try to be more mindful of everyone’s feelings. In the pods, you’re balancing multiple connections, which isn’t how dating normally works. If I could go back, I’d focus even more on clear communication to avoid misunderstandings.
Ultimately, though, I believe every connection taught me something valuable, so I wouldn’t change the outcome, just the process.
Q: Given your experiences, what advice would you give to singles navigating dating expectations?
A: Based on my experiences, my biggest advice to singles navigating dating expectations would be to stay true to what you genuinely want and need, rather than focusing on what you think dating should look like. It’s easy to get caught up in what others expect or how relationships are “supposed” to unfold, but ultimately, your happiness comes from authenticity.
I’d also say, be open to the unexpected. Sometimes the most meaningful connections come from people or situations that surprise you. Don’t rush things or put pressure on yourself to find “the one” right away.
Take time to really understand yourself, what you’re looking for, and communicate that clearly. At the end of the day, love thrives on patience, openness, and the willingness to let things unfold naturally, without forcing an outcome.
Q: What has been the response from family and friends in Lebanon after seeing your journey on the show?
A: The response from family and friends in Lebanon has been incredibly heartwarming and supportive.
At first, they were surprised and a bit unsure about the idea of finding love in such a unique setting, but after seeing the journey play out, they came to appreciate the experience and how much I put myself out there. They’ve told me how proud they are of me for being open and vulnerable, and for truly giving the process a chance.
Some friends have even said watching my journey has changed their perspective on love and dating.
They’ve seen that real connections can form in unexpected ways, and that’s made them more open-minded about their own relationships. Lebanese culture values family and close-knit connections, so having their support through this journey has meant everything to me.
Q: How do you feel about how Lebanon, Lebanese people, and even Lebanese businesses were represented on the show?
A: Seeing Lebanon, Lebanese people, and local businesses featured on Love is Blind: Habibi was incredibly special. The show provided a unique opportunity to showcase Lebanese culture in an authentic way, highlighting our traditions and values.
From the importance of family to the way we approach relationships with loyalty, love, and community, it offered a true glimpse into what makes Lebanon so unique.
