The Change MPs are trying to challenge the current nomination of Lebanese Forces-Backed Michel Mouawad for President by promoting the candidacy of former MP Salah Honein.
The group sees Honein as “a strong, reformist candidate who has not been involved in corruption.”
They believe Honein has the ability to unite the opposition’s votes, unlike Mouawad.
The Change MPs have reached out to other opposition groups, including the Kataeb bloc and independent Sunni MPs, who are reportedly willing to endorse Honein.
However, the Lebanese Forces and the Progressive Socialist Party have not yet given a clear answer regarding their support for Honein.
