Lebanon’s very own Mohammad Chahine is competing for the winning title in the German version of American Idol!
Twenty-two year old Mohammad Chahine, popularly known as Momo, is a finalist on Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar, Germany’s top singing competition.
After a rocky start during auditions, Momo rose to the top, quickly becoming one of the absolute favorites and a serious contender for the show’s 1st place.
German R&B singer and judge on the show, Pietro Lombardi, has already outed himself as a fan of the Lebanese talent, calling him his ‘bro’ and posting live-videos of him in reaction to Mohammad’s singing.
Mohammad went dangerously close to quitting the show and giving up on his talent during the show’s recall period. The reason: his training as a chemist.
“My exam date coincided with the show’s trip to Thailand. I had to make a choice: either I quit DSDS and take the exam, or I fly and postpone my training another 6 months,” he explained.
Ultimately, Momo was able to extend his employment’s training while keeping his contract with the show. Luckily for us, because, otherwise, the world would have never known this stunning talent.
Momo is currently in the top eight, fighting for the coveted title of Superstar.
His style varies between rap, Hip-Hop, and pop ballads, singing in German with the occasional English/Arabic mash-up, which is turning his songs especially winsome.
On Instagram, the rising star has a whopping 108 thousand followers, while his YouTube channel has close to 13k subscribers; as of yet.
On Saturday, April 13th, the top 8 finalists will go head-to-head in the series’ second live show. He has it all to score the superstar title of 2019 but the public votes will decide. He’s counting on yours to make it!
