In light of the tragic chemical explosion in Beirut, Lebanon is continuously receiving humanitarian support and assistance from countries around the world.

The latest initiative to help the people of Lebanon comes from China. Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, HE Wang Kejian, just delivered China’s donation of 3,600 food boxes to the Lebanese Army.

According to Kejian, 15,000 people will be able to benefit from this donation. The Lebanese Army is set to distribute them to families affected by the Beirut Port explosion.

“This is in order to alleviate the difficulties these families face, and to express the Chinese people’s friendship towards the Lebanese people,” he said.

China’s stance of solidarity with the Lebanese is not new. Since the beginning of the pandemic outbreak, China prompted to donate airport screen equipment and medical equipment to help Lebanon fight the coronavirus. It has also shown interest in stepping in to revive Lebanon’s railway.
