UN-Habitat

The Directorate General of Civil Defense in the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities issued a statement warning against using firecrackers on Saint Elias’ Feast Day.

The Civil Defense said that the risk of using fireworks might inevitably lead to human injuries, and might cause forest fires, “especially since the forest fire risk indicator warns of a high risk of fire in many Lebanese areas.”

The statement added that in case anyone notices any fire, no matter its size, they should immediately contact the Civil Defense’s operating room on the emergency number, 125, to report its location.

Lebanon has been witnessing a series of fires across the country and people are urged to be cautious and considerate of their environment.
