Here Are The Most Common Vaccine Side Effects Reported In Lebanon

The Pharmacovigilance Team at the Lebanese University (LU) has published a new report about the side effects of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines that have been recorded in Lebanon.

The report was prepared in coordination with the Lebanese Health Ministry, and it covers the period between February 14th and April 30th.

A total of 463,792 vaccine doses were evaluated for this report, including Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, and Sputnik V shots.

In total, 12 of 31 cases that were classified as severe died after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to the report.

The fatalities were reported to the concerned committee at the Health Ministry to assess their potential causal relationship with the vaccine.

Apart from that, the report indicates that the most common post-vaccination side effects reported in Lebanon were general pain (44.5%), increased body temperature (31.4%), pain at the injection site (32.6%), headache (28.2%), and general fatigue (29.1%).

Fatigue symptoms were mostly reported by AstraZeneca (59%) and Sputnik V (59.8%) vaccine recipients.

Gender-wise, 65% of the individuals who reported side effects after receiving a vaccine shot in Lebanon were women, while 35% were men.

As of the time of writing, 663,878 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Lebanon. 217,924 people in the country have received both vaccine doses, while the remaining 445,954 have only received the first dose so far.
