Lebanese-French Composer Gabriel Yared Was Honored At The Cannes Film Festival

The “Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique” (SACEM), the partner of the Cannes Film Festival in its 75th edition, honored the Lebanese-French composer, Gabriel Yared.

SACEM paid tribute to Gabriel Yared’s 50-year career, as he is one of the most popular French film music composers whose work has been well-known internationally.

Yared was honored by initiating a music lesson hosted by Stéphane Lerouge as an opportunity for the composer to share his experience and behind the scenes of his creations.

After spending his childhood in Lebanon, Gabriel Yared attended Henri Dutilleux’s composition classes in Paris.

He later stayed in Brazil and returned to France in 1972, where he became an orchestrator and producer.

Since 1980, Gabriel Yared had devoted most of his time to film composition and has written many creations which earned him many prestigious international awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy Award for the music of the film “The English Patient.”
