MP Abdel Rahman Al-Bizri indicated that the daily covid count in Lebanon is likely to further rise due to the mutant Omicron BA5.
Another factor he attributed to this is the absence of procedures related to distancing and masks, especially during this summer season with the possibility of crowding.
More important than the number of cases, is that the number of patients admitted to hospitals is still low.
Al-Bizri noted that “the societal immunity is high in Lebanon, whether due to vaccination or direct infections.”
Now, more care efforts are required in dealing with covid, such as returning to imposing masks and social distancing that are not currently on the table. Moreover, the call is urgent for vaccination to enhance immunity through the third and fourth doses.
