Cyprus to help Lebanon build a Mediterranean emergency center

This week, the Lebanese Minister of National Defense Yaacoub Sarraf met with his Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaides in Nicosia. The two ministers discussed that Lebanon and Cyprus should cooperate to maintain the security in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. According to

, Cyprus will assist Lebanon in building a center on the Lebanese coastline which will help in responding to maritime emergencies. Cyprus will provide Lebanon with financial assistance and training. Sarraf, Fokaides, and the Greek Minister Panos Kammenos will hold a meeting at the beginning of 2018. Lebanon has a healthy relationship with Cyprus which is a popular touristic destination for Lebanese people. The island country is also where many Lebanese people get a civil marriage.
