Thousands of dead fish fill the sandy shoreline and lifelessly sway with the crashing waves. Locals are alarmed by the sight, calling it an environmental disaster and urge the Ministry of Agriculture to take action to protect the livelihoods of fishermen and fisheries in Lebanon. As for the reason why they washed ashore, that’s still uncertain. Could the water be toxic? Could they have washed ashore in the aftermath of the blast… two months later?
